WELCOME TO ORANGE COUNTY

VFW Post 2093
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

Commander's Corner

Commander George Pilioglos

Three months into the New Year, we have achieved success despite some efforts against us!
We have managed to obtain the necessary funding for the needed repair to our sewer system and the repairs will start within 60 days.
I encourage all Post member to attend the next two Post meetings, not only will we be nominating the Officers for the next year, but we will also review the proposed updates to our Post by-laws, Our Canteen rules and the Canteen Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The by-laws must be read and reviewed on consecutive meetings before being sent to State Headquarters for approval. The Canteen rules and SOP just need Post approval. All is important and I encourage all to participate!
Please join us on Friday, March 7th, in welcoming the Silkies Ruck, who will gather at our post the
night before their ruck. They are a veteran organization focused on raising awareness about military suicide and prevention through their ruck. A complimentary dinner will be provided to all attendees, including our members. We encourage you to come out and show your support for these veterans.
In April, we will commemorate the event known as the "Shot Heard Around the World." The 19th of April marks the 250th anniversary of what is regarded by many as the first shot of the American Revolution in Lexington, Massachusetts. We are planning a Barbecue, car show and blood drive during March and April, please check the Calendar for details. Hope to see all there! You may notice that we started to advertise in our newsletter. This will help cover associated costs. I would encourage you to use these advertisers should the need arise, as they are veteran and auxiliary owned and operated. I would also like to thank those advertisers for choosing our newsletter to spend their advertising budget. We appreciate their support. For those looking to advertise, please contact my wife, Patty Pilioglos, ppilioglos@gmail.com or 407-722-4793 for assistance
God Bless the United States of America, God Bless and our Troops. Wishing you a wonderfulmonth ahead.
Best regards,
George (Sarge) Pilioglos, USMC

Requesting Veteran Records

Many have asked how to get a copy of their DD214 or correct their military records.

Student Veterans of America

GI Bill benefits are the most widely utilized benefits available to veterans. Moreover, veterans on college campuses have demonstrated an eagerness to not only organize but to lead in their communities while pursuing higher education. By supporting the nearly 1 million student veterans on college campuses today, the VFW has a unique opportunity to not only showcase the amazing work of our organization, but we can also harness this leadership potential to grow our organization for future generations of veteran leaders.
